March 16 Update

Our first and foremost priority is the safety of all lifters, officials, spectators, and family members. Although this competition is still a month away and, as of today, already seen numerous gyms close down, including ours, we are aware most athletes will not have a place to train and will also find travel arrangements extremely difficult.  

We are pushing back the original meet date (April 25-26) to a later date that's still to be determined. We'll keep you informed of the new date as soon as we hammer out some details.

Registration and Membership Fees

Athlete Registration w/ T-Shirt $130
      Additional Class/Division $25
Athlete's Coach Admission $10 - Limited to 1 per athlete.
*Spectator Admission $15 - Limited to 2 per athlete.
*We will open up more spectator tickets as soon as we have all lifters registered, and they purchased their spectator tickets.

USAPL San Diego Validus Open III is limited to 74 LIFTERS. Spectator space is limited. There are no refunds for a canceled registration for ANY reason. If you cannot lift in the meet you will forfeit your registration monies. Transfers to another event are not allowed.

Awards and Weight Classes

We will give out awards at the end of each session. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place in each class will receive a medal. If you leave before awards are given out, we will not mail your prize. Please make arrangements for someone else to collect your medal. We'll announce Best Female Lifter (based off of IPF Points) after Saturday's AM session and Best Male Lifter after Sunday's AM Session.

The standard USA Powerlifting weight classes is used. Youth Weight classes are also available.

Women: 43, 47, 52, 57, 63, 72, 84, 84+ (kgs)

Men: 53, 59, 66, 74, 83, 93, 105, 120, 120+ (kgs)

RECORDS: Only State records can be set at this meet. American/Collegiate records cannot be set at this meet.

Rules and Drug Testing

USA Powerlifting allows the following in raw lifting: singlet, belt, wrist wraps, and knee sleeves. Knee wraps are not allowed in raw competition.

You are responsible for knowing the USA Powerlifting Rules, including the new 2019 rules and the updated apparel policy on page 22 of the rulebook before competing. You must have your current USA Powerlifting Membership before the meet. 

We will drug test 10% of the lifters at this event. If you are selected for drug testing and leave before being tested, any awards you may have received will be forfeited. Be sure to take responsibility for what goes into your body. Some supplements and drugs are legal to buy but are not permitted if you compete in USA Powerlifting competitions. Parking, Equipment and More

Please inform your guests and coach of the parking situation in advance. Validus is in the Kearny Plaza at 8199 Clairemont Mesa Blvd Ste B, San Diego, CA 92111. If you look for DAISO and Yesenia's Mexican Restaurant in the east corner of the Kearny Plaza, you will see Validus in between those two. Parking shouldn't be too bad for both AM sessions. The parking lot for the Saturday PM session might be full. If it is, look for street parking on Clairemont Mesa Blvd.

The colder sac and parking lots south of Validus (see Ronson Ct. on a google map) is also a straight shot to the gym. Just walk up a small dirt hill from that parking lot, walk around Daiso and enter Validus at the front door for check-in. Do not enter Validus from the back door.
